Job summary

Abbotsleigh is seeking Casual Boarding Assistants to support the wellbeing and development of students in our boarding community. You will provide pastoral care, supervision, and a trusted presence to help students feel at home while away from family.

Responsibilities include supervising on evenings and weekends, promoting a respectful environment, coordinating with staff, and ensuring safeguarding and safety policies are followed. This role suits those passionate about working with young people.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in supporting the wellbeing and development of young people.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and colleagues.
• Sound judgement, resilience and a calm approach when responding to challenges.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnight and weekends.
• Current Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain one).
• Current First Aid and CPR qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
• Eligibility to work in Australia.
• Commitment to child safeguarding and student wellbeing

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and support to boarding students in accordance with Boarding House procedures.
• Foster a positive, respectful and inclusive boarding environment.
• Support students' wellbeing, personal development and pastoral care needs.
• Assist with evening, weekend and recreational activities.
• Monitor student attendance, routines and general conduct.
• Respond appropriately to student concerns and wellbeing matters.
• Work collaboratively with boarding, teaching and support staff.
• Ensure compliance with child safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies.
