Job summary

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is seeking enthusiastic Casual Teachers to join the Western Sydney School team in Sydney, NSW. This casual role offers flexibility and the chance to directly impact students on the autism spectrum through tailored learning experiences.

You will deliver inclusive instruction, implement IEPs, and collaborate with a dedicated team to support student growth and wellbeing within our specialist educational settings.

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching qualification or equivalent credential.
• Experience with students on the autism spectrum or in special education.
• Strong understanding of autism, neurodiversity and inclusive education practices.
• Excellent communication with students, families, staff and stakeholders.
• Patience, empathy and commitment to diverse learning needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively while showing initiative and independence.
• Knowledge of behaviour management and positive behaviour support approaches.
• WWCC (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain one.
• First Aid and CPR certification is desirable.
• Experience creating differentiated learning materials and adapting curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and inclusive classroom instruction to students on the autism spectrum.
• Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
• Create a safe, structured learning environment that promotes engagement and wellbeing.
• Assist with classroom management and behaviour support using positive reinforcement.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff and parents to monitor progress.
• Support students with daily living skills, social interaction and communication development.
• Maintain records of student progress and participate in team meetings and PD.
• Contribute to an inclusive school culture that celebrates neurodiversity.
