Job summary

BG HAUTE PTY LIMITED is seeking a qualified Carpenter to manage decking projects from plans to handover. You will measure and set out on site, build subframes, lay hardwood and composite decking, and construct stairs, pergolas and balustrades, while running your own site and directing a labourer or apprentice.

You will be the face of the business for the client while the job is on, coordinating with trades, ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade qualification.
• At least three years of relevant full-time carpentry or decking experience.
• Experience building timber decks and outdoor structures, including composite decking systems.
• Ability to read plans and to measure, cost and quote residential jobs.
• NSW White Card and a current driver's licence.
• Excellent finishing skills and clear communication with clients.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and specifications and set out decks, stairs and outdoor structures on site.
• Install footings, posts, bearers and joists; construct decking subframes, stair stringers, pergola and screen framing.
• Lay and fix hardwood and composite decking (hidden-fastener and face-fixed systems), fascia, trims and balustrades.
• Check levels and alignment, finish, sand, oil and seal timber, and rectify defects before handover.
• Measure and quote jobs, liaise with clients on site, and coordinate with other trades.
• Keep a safe site: SWMS, inductions, PPE and safe use of power tools and cutting stations.

BG HAUTE PTY LIMITED The role We are hiring a qualified Carpenter to take decking projects from plans to handover. You will measure and set out on site, build the subframe, lay and fix hardwood and composite decking, construct stairs, pergolas and balustrades, and finish the job to a standard the client will show their neighbours. You will run your own site, direct a labourer or apprentice, and be the face of the business for the client while the job is on.
