Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer the College's careers education program, including Career Action Plans & My Career Portfolio for students from Year 7 onwards.
  • Organise Morrisby Online career assessments and counselling for Year 9 students.
  • Develop and co-ordinate delivery of the career development program based on the Victorian Career Curriculum framework.
  • Provide individual and group careers counselling to students, parents and families for Years 9–12.
  • Support students with post-school planning including university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships, employment and other opportunities.
  • Manage the Work Experience program, liaising with employers and ensuring DE compliance.
  • Coordinate subject selection processes for Years 10–12 and provide guidance throughout the process.
  • Support Year 12 and post-school transitions including VTAC applications and scholarships.
  • Coordinate work experience, campus visits, guest speakers and industry engagement activities.
  • Support at-risk students with pathway planning and close collaboration with school staff and external agencies.
  • Attend school events and provide general education support and replacement duties as required.

Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions.Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal.Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school.Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Responsibilities
Careers Education and Student Pathways
  • Coordinate and administer the College's careers education program, including the implementation of Career Action Plans and My Career Portfolio for students from Year 7 onwards.
  • Organise and manage Morrisby Online career assessments and counselling for Year 9 students, working closely with external career counsellors.
  • Develop and co-ordinate delivery of the career development program for students based on the Victorian Career Curriculum framework
  • Provide individual and group careers counselling to students, parents and families, supporting informed subject selection and pathway planning across Years 9 to 12.
  • Support students with post-school planning, including university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships, employment and other education or training opportunities.
Work Experience Program Management
  • Implement the DE Work Experience policy and follow the associated work experience manual when planning for and conducting work experience arrangements to ensure compliance with legislation
  • Manage the Work Based Learning Application portal to encourage all students/carers and employers to use the digital work experience arrangement forms.
  • Coordinate and manage the Work Experience program, including identifying and managing a database of opportunities, liaising with employers and ensuring all parties are compliant with DE legal and educational requirements
  • Support students in securing placements, preparing resumes and completing OHS requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate the work experience placements and gather feedback from employers and students
Subject Selection and Senior Pathways
  • Coordinate and manage subject selection processes for students transitioning into Years 10, 11 and 12.
  • Support the College course counselling program, including coordinating staff professional learning for course counselling, and provide guidance to students and families throughout the selection process.
  • Present careers and pathway information at year level assemblies, parent forums and information evenings.
  • Support the Year 9 into 10 Subject Selection Expo and coordinate careers-related events that support student decision-making.
Year 12 and Post-School Transitions
  • Support Year 12 students through all aspects of their post-school planning, including VTAC applications, SEAS, scholarship applications and Change of Preference.
  • Provide advice regarding tertiary pathways, apprenticeships, employment opportunities and alternative pathways after school.
  • Assist students with applications for scholarships, university early entry programs, TAFE courses and apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Track and monitor student destinations after leaving school and maintain accurate transition data to meet Department of Education reporting requirements.
Career Development Programs and Industry Engagement
  • Coordinate work experience, structured workplace learning, careers expos, university and TAFE visits, guest speakers, trade tasters and other careers-related excursions and incursions.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with universities, TAFEs, employers, industry groups and external organisations to expand pathway opportunities for students.
  • Represent the College on external networks and professional forums, including careers practitioner groups, LLEN, VET clusters and university advisory groups.
Student Support and Administration
  • Support students at risk of disengaging from their learning and support them by collaborating with Head of Year, wellbeing staff, teachers, and external agencies to coordinate referrals and develop appropriate pathway plans.
  • Manage exemptions, exits and pathway documentation, ensuring accurate record keeping and compliance with Department requirements.
  • Maintain the Careers information for students, the Careers section of the College website newsletters and other communication channels to ensure students and families receive current careers information.
Other Duties
  • Work collaboratively with the Leading Teachers, Assistant Principal and College staff to embed career education across the school.
  • Provide administrative support for careers programs and contribute to whole-school events and initiatives as required
  • Attend school events outside of regular working hours when required (note that Time in Lieu will be approved on these occasions)
  • Perform general education support staff duties and as required in the event of other ES staff absences perform replacement duties
  • Ensure professionalism, efficiency, cheerfulness, reliability, politeness and teamwork are implemented, followed and supported at all times.
  • Maintain a professional, safe and organised work environment while demonstrating the College values of high expectations, collaboration, respect and responsibility.
  • Undertake other duties relevant to the field of responsibility as requested by the College Principal
