How You Can Make a Difference

Want to help strengthen Queensland's cardiovascular research community?

The Heart Foundation is looking for a connector, organiser, and all‑round people‑person to support the Queensland Cardiovascular Research Network (QCVRN).

You’ll bring researchers, clinicians, and partners together to build collaborations, support emerging leaders, and deliver events that make a real impact.

One day you might be coordinating a research showcase or professional development webinar; the next, you’re supporting grants administration, wrangling committees, or connecting with stakeholders.

This position is being offered on a permanent part-time (0.8) basis.

You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between home and our Brisbane (Creek St) office.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Queensland Cardiovascular Research Network (QCVRN), ensuring smooth delivery of all programs and activities.

Build and maintain strong relationships with researchers, institutions, funding bodies, and government partners to strengthen collaboration across Queensland's cardiovascular research community.

Coordinate and deliver high‑quality events, including research showcases, symposiums, webinars, and networking opportunities, including the coordination of event working groups.

Administer Queensland‑specific research grants and prizes, ensuring transparent processes and effective communication with applicants and committees.

Provide secretariat and strategic support to the QCVRN Executive Steering Committee and Emerging Leaders Sub‑Committees, including meeting coordination, preparation, reporting, and follow‑up actions.

Promote QCVRN activities and achievements through digital channels and stakeholder engagement to raise the profile of cardiovascular research in Queensland.

Identify and drive new opportunities for collaboration, capacity building, and external engagement that advance the QCVRN's strategic goals.

What You’ll Bring

Tertiary qualifications and / or experience in health, medical research, or a related field.

An understanding of the health and medical research landscape in Queensland and Australia.

Experience planning and delivering events, from concept to wrap‑up.

Excellent stakeholder relationship skills — you're confident connecting with researchers, funders, and government partners.

Great organisational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills - able to tailor your message to a range of audiences.

A proactive, self‑directed approach — you take ownership, spot opportunities, and make things happen.
