Job summary

Sante Recruitment is assisting Rockhampton Hospital in recruiting a Staff Specialist Cardiologist to deliver non-invasive and interventional care across the regional Cardiology Unit. You will contribute to governance, teaching, and service development as part of a regional hub for Central Queensland.

The role focuses on establishing the new interventional cardiology service, developing care models, and leading a multidisciplinary team across the Coronary Care Unit, Ward, and outpatient

Qualifications

• FRACP (Cardiology) required or eligible
• Experience in interventional and non-invasive cardiology desirable
• Leadership and governance experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver General and Interventional Cardiology across ICU, ward, clinics and cath lab.
• Help establish and expand interventional cardiology services.
• Contribute to models of care, governance and clinical pathways.
• Lead and teach registrars and junior staff in cardiology.
• Support regional hub development for cardiac services.

The Cardiac Investigations Unit delivers a broad range of diagnostic services including echocardiography, exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, exercise stress testing, tilt table testing and ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitoring.

You'll join a growing multidisciplinary team of Cardiac Physiologists, Cardiologists, Nursing, Administration and other health professionals, with opportunities to work across an expanding range of diagnostic and interventional cardiac services, develop advanced skills and contribute to the ongoing growth of cardiac care in Central Queensland.

About the role:

You will:

• Deliver General and Interventional Cardiology across the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiology Ward, outpatient clinics and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory.
• Play an important role in the commencement and establishment of Rockhampton Hospital's new Interventional Cardiology service.
• Help shape Models of Care, clinical pathways and the future development of interventional capability across the region.
• Contribute to clinical leadership, governance, quality improvement and service development.
• Participate in teaching, supervision and professional development of registrars, junior medical staff and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory staff.
• Work across a broad regional referral service as Rockhampton Hospital develops as a regional cardiac centre of excellence and major referral hub for Central Queensland.

About you: We are seeking a Specialist Cardiologist with contemporary Interventional Cardiology experience, including current PCI practice and participation in primary PCI services, together with strong General Cardiology capability.

Importantly, we are looking for someone who wants to contribute beyond the procedural role – a specialist who is excited by the opportunity to help establish a new service from its commencement, develop capability and influence the future of specialist cardiac care for the region.

You will join a progressive and well-established **Cardiology Unit** at a time of major growth and transformation. The service is expanding both clinically and infrastructurally, positioning itself as the **primary cardiac referral hub for the region**.

Working within a **multidisciplinary cardiology model**, you will contribute to the delivery, development, and future planning of comprehensive **non-invasive cardiology services**.

Clinical Services

The Cardiology Service provides a broad range of diagnostic and outpatient services, including:

• Echocardiography

• Cardiac CT
• Heart failure services
• Cardiac rehabilitation programs
• Chest Pain Assessment Services

Following a significant capital investment, the department is currently progressing:

• Construction planning for a **new state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory**
• Expansion of the **Cardiac Investigation Unit**
• Increased **inpatient bed capacity**
