Job summary

St Joseph’s Primary School in Wagga Wagga is seeking a Permanent Part-time Canteen Supervisor to commence in January 2027. The role oversees the school canteen operations with volunteer helpers, promoting nutritious meals for students and staff in accordance with canteen guidelines.

The position is 9 hours per week (Mon 9:30am–2pm, Fri 9:30am–2pm), term-time only, with benefits including salary packaging and access to health programs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in customer service/hospitality and food preparation.
• Knowledge of correct food handling and hygiene procedures.
• Ability to be a team player with strong communication skills.
• Capacity to work with and manage canteen volunteers.
• Current Working with Children Check is required.
• Food Handling or Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to undertake training.
• Knowledge of NSW Schools Canteen Guidelines.
• Experience with School24 online ordering software.

Your New Role:

The Canteen Supervisor, under the supervision of the Principal, is responsible, with the assistance of volunteer helpers, for the operation of the School Canteen. The main aim of the canteen is to provide and promote a variety of nutritious and healthy foods to students and staff in accordance with Healthy Schools Canteen guidelines.

• Previous experience in customer service/hospitality and food preparation
• Ability to plan, organise and monitor the daily operations of the canteen in accordance with established procedures
• Knowledge of correct food handling and hygiene procedures
• The ability to be a team player with a high level of demonstrated communication skills
• Ability to work in high demand areas
• Aptitude for working with students
• Capacity to work with and manage canteen volunteers
• Willingness to work with School Leadership and staff
• Abide by the policies and procedures of St Joseph's Primary School
• Current Working with Children Check
• Successful Candidate will under go a National Criminal History Check and Functional Assessment
• A food Handling or Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to undertake such training
