Job summary

News Corp Australia is seeking a National Political Editor based in Canberra to lead our political coverage. You will report on the nation’s key players, policies and debates while collaborating with state-based teams that feed major metropolitan mastheads.

You’ll report to the Network Head of News and manage high-profile assignments, delivering decisive, accurate reporting under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in political reporting or a related field.
• Strong multiplatform skills including video broadcast and editing.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with a focus on accuracy and clarity.
• Initiative, maturity, and enthusiasm for tackling difficult and robust assignments.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

• Break exclusive political stories and provide insightful analysis for a national audience.
• Collaborate with state-based colleagues to ensure cohesive and comprehensive political coverage.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key political figures, policymakers, and stakeholders.
• Deliver high-quality content under tight deadlines, demonstrating initiative and resilience.
• Report directly to the Head of News for Network News.
