Job summary

The Commons in Melbourne is seeking a Cafe Supervisor to oversee daily venue operations, ensure high food and beverage quality, and deliver exceptional customer service. You will lead staff, manage stock and equipment, and drive end-of-day, weekly, and monthly reporting, with accountability for the cafe’s financial performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in canteen, cafe, or similar food & beverage setting.
• Supervisory experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of food & beverage preparation, equipment maintenance, and stock control.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to monitor budgets and control costs.
• Food Safety Supervisor certification.
• Physical fitness with the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20kg.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example with a strong floor presence and service.
• Train and supervise staff to meet standards.
• Manage inventory, place orders, minimise waste.
• Ensure adherence to recipes and maintain quality.
• Schedule maintenance and monitor equipment.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
