Job summary

Talent Matters partners with a leading apparel retailer to hire a Buyer in Sydney area. You will create, range and deliver a balanced product assortment for apparel and accessories, driving commercial opportunities and margins.

You will own end-to-end product lifecycle from selection, sourcing, price negotiation, orders to warehouse delivery, including travel for trend insights and seasonal trading. The ideal candidate has 5 years of Buyer experience in apparel and strong commercial acumen with

Qualifications

• 5 years of Buyer experience in apparel or fashion
• Strong commercial acumen with a trade-focused approach
• Experience in sourcing, price negotiation and range planning

Responsibilities

• Strategically own and manage a selection of apparel & accessories categories, from product selection and sourcing to price negotiation and order placement
• Manage a commercial range that meets sales budgets, margins and customer expectations
• Drive ongoing product development using trends and brand knowledge
• Trade the range in-season and collaborate with planners to optimize core lines
• Identify new trends through travel, research and market awareness
• Ensure Open-To-Buy (OTB) is filled and deliveries are phased correctly
• Own product from creation to fitting and stores

You will create, range and deliver a balance product assortment that is relevant to the customer and maximises commercial opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Strategically own and manage a selection of categories within apparel and accessories from product selection, sourcing, price negotiation, order placement to warehouse delivery
• Manage a commercial and desirable range that meets sales budgets, margin targets, proposed range mix and customer expectations
• Continuous product development for your specific categories using a combination of current trends and proven product knowledge - design led product development
• Ability to trade your range in season and are accountable for core lines with the planners
• Identify new trends and product relevant to the brand customer through overseas travel, online research and local market awareness
• Ensure the OTB is filled and product deliveries are phased correctly
• Own product from creation, fitting, production to stores

To be successful within the role, you will have:

• 5 years of experience as a Buyer, within apparel essential
• Commercial acumen with a trade focused approach
