ALRA | Australia's Leading Recruitment Agency in Canberra is seeking a senior Business Services accountant with 6+ years of experience to join a high-quality client base. You’ll manage your own portfolio, mentor junior staff and collaborate with Partners on taxation, planning and strategic advisory.
The role emphasises advisory over routine compliance, with a clear path to leadership within a national mid-tier firm. Flexible working is supported and career progression to partnership is possible.
Seeking 6 + years Business Services experience within Australian public practice. Ability to manage client relationships and comfortably manage junior team members.
If you're an experienced Business Services accountant who has reached Supervisor level, this is an opportunity to work with a high-quality client base while having the resources and career opportunities of a national mid-tier firm.
The Canberra practice has built a particularly strong position among Canberra’s largest privately owned family businesses. Your clients will typically generate $10–30K in annual fees, with some significantly higher, and will include established businesses, family groups and high-net-worth individuals across industries including property, construction and technology.
This is a genuine Business Advisory role rather than a position dominated by routine compliance.
You’ll manage your own portfolio and work closely with Partners on matters including:
You’ll also review work, mentor junior accountants and contribute to the development of the wider team.
The expectation is that you’ll understand your clients’ businesses, build strong relationships and provide advice that helps them make better decisions.
You’ll get the best of both worlds: the resources, expertise and career opportunities of a mid-tier firm, combined with the accessibility and personal approach of a boutique practice with deep roots in the Canberra market. You won’t be treated as a number or a cog in a
machine – you’ll have direct access to Partners, meaningful client exposure and the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to the practice.
There is also a genuine pathway for someone who wants to progress. If you demonstrate the technical ability, client relationships and leadership skills required, the opportunity exists to progress into management and ultimately Partner.
The firm has a reputation for being progressive and for paying well to attract and retain strong people.
Flexible working is supported, with an emphasis on building a sustainable career alongside your life outside work.
The practice also offers a range of wellbeing initiatives and regular team and social activities.
We’re interested in speaking with accountants who are:
A high-quality Business Services portfolio, significant advisory exposure and a clear path for progression – with the backing of a national mid-tier firm.
