The Business Intake Manager will be responsible for assisting the Head of Business Intake in overseeing and managing the Corrs Group’s processes for assessing, accepting and onboarding new clients and matters (Business Intake), including the firm’s compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing laws in Australia and Papua New Guinea (AML/CTF Laws).

The Business Intake Manager will be responsible for assisting the Head of Business Intake with the following key areas (not exhaustive):

  • contributing to the implementation of Business Intake policies, systems, and procedures aligned with industry best practices, including conflicts of interest screening and resolution, and a robust AML/CTF framework to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws and the firm’s legal and professional obligations;
  • supervising the firm’s Business Intake Team;
  • assisting with the timely roll-out and ongoing implementation of the firm’s AML/CTF Program, including training and communications, and engagement with key stakeholders;
  • supporting client and matter due diligence and onboarding processes, and other necessary tasks for new clients and matters, particularly during peak periods or when advisor/analyst availability is constrained; and
  • supporting the Head of Business Intake and other senior management with related projects and tasks as required.

The Business Intake Manager will:

  • work closely with the Head of Business Intake and other senior management in the Risk and Legal Excellence team;
  • assist the firm’s AML/CTF Compliance Officer with the performance of their duties, depending on their seniority and experience; and
  • assist Corrs achieve best practice Business Intake outcomes and continual improvement aligned with the firm’s legal and regulatory obligations, organisational structure and risk management strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Business Intake with the development, implementation and ongoing enhancement of the firm’s Business Intake systems, policies and procedures, including an AML/CTF Program that ensures the firm is compliant with AML/CTF Laws and best practice
  • Work closely with the Head of Business Intake and other senior management to maintain a robust and appropriate AML/CTF Program aligned with AML/CTF Laws and industry best practice
  • Have proven detailed knowledge of the AML/CTF Laws and guidance provided by the relevant regulators
  • Implement recommendations following audits of AML/CTF compliance. Support the AML/CTF Compliance Officer in fulfilling their statutory and regulatory obligations and potentially act as their delegate during periods of absence, which may include serving as the firm’s primary liaison with AUSTRAC
  • Supervise the day-to-day work of the firm’s Business Intake Team and act as first point of escalation
  • Assist with the continuous upskilling, training and technical development of the Business Intake Team
  • Oversee workflow management of the Business Intake Team

Experience

  • Previous experience in the management and implementation of AML/CTF compliance programs, preferably in an international law firm
  • Experience of AML/CTF, KYC/CDD processes and systems such as Intapp and other compliance risk platforms such as Orbis or World-Check, preferably in an international law firm
  • Intapp knowledge and experience is strongly preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of AML/CTF requirements and risks associated with the range of services in the legal industry
  • A bachelor degree or higher qualification preferred. A recognised AML/Compliance qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other productivity tools
  • A minimum of three years leadership or team management experience is strongly preferred
