Job summary

About the Role

Curtin is seeking a proactive Business Analyst to support transformative research initiatives and help unlock powerful insights from enterprise data.

You will be working alongside experienced business, systems and data analysts, on a high-profile transformation project.

Working alongside a Senior Business Analyst, this role will connect business process to our digital systems to deliver efficiency and improvement and unlock data informed decisions, supporting meaningful change for the Research Community at Curtin.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Partner with business owners and stakeholders to understand challenges, clarify needs and define future-state requirements.
• Analyse current processes, systems and data to identify opportunities for improvement and support informed decision-making.
• Map and document current and future-state processes, business rules, requirements and solution options.
• Facilitate workshops and design sessions with stakeholders and technical specialists to shape practical, user-focused solutions.
• Support project delivery by coordinating testing, implementation planning, milestones, tasks and required resources.
• Prepare clear SOP documentation, guidance and communications to support new processes, procedures and system enhancements.
• Contribute to change management activities, helping users understand and adopt new or improved systems and ways of working.
• Review outcomes following implementation and contribute to ongoing service and process improvement.
• Model Curtin’s values and professional standards while undertaking other reasonable duties aligned with the role.

Who we are looking for (Selection Criteria):

• Experience reviewing, analysing and improving business processes in partnership with stakeholders to identify benefits, options and practical solutions.
• Experience of working on a fast-paced transformation program of work
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to map, redesign and document business processes and system requirements.
• Well-developed organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage priorities, milestones and deliverables in a structured project environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to consult, facilitate discussions and build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, consistent and user-friendly requirements, reports and project documentation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, contributing positively to shared outcomes.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle, with contemporary knowledge of ICT standards, tools and trends.

Role Requirements:

• As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role

Your new Team: Research Transformations

The Research Transformations team has the goal of empowering researchers with improved Research processes, support, and access to the right data at the right time.

The team work with Corporate and Administrative teams across the university to shape systems and processes that support over 1,000 Curtin Research Projects.
