Are you passionate about ecological restoration and working hands‑on with bush regeneration? Georges River Council is seeking a dedicated Bushcare Officer to join our City Technical Services team in Mortdale, where you'll work closely with our bush regeneration crew to protect and enhance local natural areas.

Multiple Full-Time Roles | $70,180.26 - $81,309.63 per annum + 12% Superannuation

About the Role

In this hands‑on role, you’ll be part of a small dynamic team responsible for managing and enhancing our natural bushland reserves. You’ll play a key role in delivering on‑ground bushland maintenance, rehabilitation and conservation efforts to restore our natural areas.

We’re looking for someone with a relevant qualification and demonstrated experience in ecological restoration including assisted regeneration, revegetation and large‑scale weed control. You will also bring a customer focused approach and can‑do attitude to engage and influence key stakeholders to achieve the best outcome for Council and the community. You're someone who is knowledgeable in bush regeneration, conservation, and or land management.

  • Temporary, Full‑Time - 76 hours per fortnight (12 months) OR
  • Permanent, Full‑Time - 76 hours per fortnight
  • Salary from $70,180.26 - $81,309.63 per annum plus 12% superannuation (dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

The successful candidate will have
  • Certificate III Conservation and Land Management (Natural Area Restoration) or equivalent experience
  • ACDC Spray licence or Chemcert
  • Strong plant identification skills – native and exotic across a range of ecosystem types
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of ecological restoration including assisted regeneration, revegetation and large‑scale weed control
  • Experience in bush regeneration, conservation and land management
  • Willingness and ability to work in various locations throughout LGA to complete bush regeneration and weed management activities
  • Demonstrated physical fitness/capacity to perform repetitive bush regeneration, maintenance and revegetation tasks
  • Ability to work without supervision and as part of a team
  • Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in the coordination of volunteer programs and activities
  • Understanding of and commitment to WHS practices
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
