Job description
Role Overview

As a Q-Tech Building Consultant, you will provide first point of reference to insurance companies for technical guidance on building repair claims. This pivotal role will require you to use your building knowledge and expertise to provide technical reports to insurance loss adjusters and insurance case management teams to support them in effective decision making. We find builders who have worked extensively on the tools, particularly in the renovation area are usually the most successful in this field.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake site inspections, tender meetings and repair audits on large loss claims in conjunction with internal and external loss adjusters.
  • Prepare reports on both the cause of damage and detailed scopes of work for rectification of the damage for domestic, commercial, strata and rural properties.
  • Read and interpret technical reports from engineers, hygienists, other experts and builders.
  • Work with internal and external loss adjusters, builders and restorers to monitor performance, improve services, resolve issues, and manage client expectations.
  • Provide direction and support for large and complex home and commercial building claims.
  • Travel to locations outside of your local area, sometimes involving extensive rural and regional travel or flying interstate.
Qualifications
  • Current Queensland Builders registration.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the building industry.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role.
  • Residential hands on building experience.
  • Experience in estimating, scheduling or supervising trades and repairs.
  • You must be computer literate and be able to complete reports using the MS Office Suite with above average grammar and writing skills.
  • The ability to write a report that accurately describes the condition and damage of the property that you have inspected.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the claims process (preferable but not compulsory).
