Job summary

Ikon Institute of Australia in Brisbane is seeking passionate Lecturers to join our Social Work program on a sessional basis. The role focuses on delivering engaging learning experiences, assessing students, and contributing to subject development.

You will teach both face-to-face and online, collaborate with an academic team, and may teach postgraduate courses depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for AASW membership.
• Postgraduate qualification in social work at AQF level above the course taught, or equivalent with relevant professional experience.
• Minimum 3 years of social work practice experience.
• Knowledge of higher education requirements and AASW standards.
• Knowledge of contemporary social work practice and developments.
• Knowledge of contemporary social work teaching, learning, and assessment; academic roles; modes of delivery; and the needs of student cohorts.
• Passion for social work education that prepares graduates with knowledge, skills and confidence.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and group facilitation skills.
• Willingness to undergo a National Police and Working with Children check, if required.
• Lecturing, tutoring, and/or subject development experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure familiarity with subject content and delivery methods as per Ikon’s course documentation.
• Deliver and teach subjects utilising experiential and authentic learning materials and resources provided by Ikon.
• Thorough preparation for teaching, including review of all provided materials.
• Contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of teaching materials and learning design.
• Teach and facilitate learning in an engaging and dynamic manner via on-campus and digital methodologies and the student learning system.
• Facilitate student engagement, consultation, and communication of student issues to relevant Ikon teams.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders to ensure smooth and cohesive delivery of subject content.
• Mark, assess, and provide feedback on all student assessments within specific timeframes (2 weeks from each assessment's due date) utilising the online comparison and generative AI detection software provided by Ikon.
