Job summary

Based in Brisbane, QLD. Austal is seeking a Marine Fitter to complete marine fitting and general works under supervision, ensuring safety and high standards are met within allocated timeframes.

The role involves inspecting and servicing on-board mechanical systems, recording critical data during refurbishment, and supporting other trades when required. A White Card and prior marine refit or heavy industrial experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in marine refit / repair or heavy industrial.
• First Aid, fire fighting and HSSE training including confined space and working at heights.
• Construction White Card.
• Able to perform work safely and to regulate standards.
• Theoretical knowledge in marine trades.
• Ability to use standard tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct marine fitting (or general) tasks as directed IAW supplied Work Pack/Job Tickets.
• Inspection, testing and servicing of on-board mechanical systems.
• Inspection, analysis and recording of critical measurements, data or information during the process of undertaking mechanical refurbishment works.
• Completing works in the required time frames and if unachievable, informing line Supervisors / Managers immediately.
• During periods of reduced trade specific works, assist in other trade-based sectors of the business as reasonably directed by Supervisors / Managers.
• Understand, embrace, implement and comply with all Austal Policies and Procedures relating to HSEQ.
