The role combines clinical leadership, teaching and supervision, and administrative contributions to the Unit’s ongoing development, with an expectation of active involvement in research and clinical audit.

Applicants must be registered with AHPRA, hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and have breast surgery training.

About the Unit

The Breast/General Surgery Unit is part of the Division of Surgery, Anaesthesia & Procedural Medicine (SAPM) and is responsible for delivering specialist breast and general surgical services across Austin Health, including the Austin Hospital and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital. Emergency and inpatient services are based at the Austin Hospital, while outpatient services are provided at both sites. The Unit also offers a consultative surgical service to other departments within Austin Health.

About the role

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Breast Surgeon / General Surgeon to join our Breast and General Surgery Unit.

This is a senior medical staff position with responsibilities in clinical leadership, teaching and supervision, and administrative contributions to the ongoing development and performance of the Unit.

About you

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

• Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent
• Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of breast surgery.
• Demonstrate commitment to high-quality patient care.
• Demonstrate commitment and ongoing activity in research and/or clinical audit activities.
