Job summary

Riviera Australia is seeking a Boat Builder with Lamination and Composite expertise to join our Gold Coast team in Coomera. You will perform lamination work, gelcoat repairs, and finish detailing with a focus on quality and accuracy.

You will work with traditional lamination processes and resin infusion, operating gelcoater and chopper gun, and ensure high standards across moulding operations, while coordinating with teammates to meet production targets.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in lamination industry using traditional processes
• Experience with resin infusion and advanced composite technologies
• Experience operating a gelcoater and/or chopper gun
• Experience in gelcoat repairs, sanding, buffing and polishing
• Experience detailing and buffing; excellent hand tool and machinery skills
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and work within a team; safety-focused and detail-oriented

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings for mould preparation
• Prepare moulds and apply release agents
• Laminate fiberglass components to schedules including flybridges and hulls
• Perform inline inspections to minimise defects and air voids
• Install structural materials and manage safety in the workspace
• Maintain tidy, safe work area and organize tools and materials
• Open moulding and closed moulding tasks: care, prep, upkeep and repair of moulds
• Pack pre-cut fabrics into moulds and manage vacuum systems during infusion
• Demould parts and ensure quality workmanship

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Lamination & Composite Technician.

The successful candidate will possess high attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and a passion for continuous improvement. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Extensive experience in the Lamination Industry using traditional lamination processes
• Understanding of and experience in Resin Infusion processes and implementing advanced composite technologies
• Extensive experience in operating a Gelcoater and/or Chopper Gun
• Extensive experience in gelcoat repairs, sanding, buffing and polishing
• Experience in all aspects of detailing and buffing
• Excellent hand tool skills and machinery experience
• Demonstrated ability to work to strict deadlines and meet targets
• Flexibility to move within lamination areas and multitask where required
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work well within a team environment
• Strong eye for detail with a focus on accuracy and quality first time
• Self motivated, with a positive attitude, and pride in workmanship
• Applicants with a current HRLW (class LF) will be highly regarded.

The successful candidate will also have existing experience in:

LAMINATION: OPEN MOULDING

• Read and interpreting drawings
• Prepare moulds, including applying release agents.
• Gelcoat taping and assembling additional parts and preparing moulds
• Laminate fiberglass components to a lamination schedule (flybridges, hardtops, hulls, decks and small parts)
• Perform in-line inspections to minimise quality issues, gel coat imperfections, and air voids
• Install structural materials such as wood, aluminum flat bar, foam and core mat,
• Handle hazardous chemicals such as catalyst, resin, gel coat and structural adhesives and maintaining the shed in a clean and tidy manner,
• including organizing tools and materials in order to avoid any safety issues.

LAMINATION: CLOSED MOULDING

• Read and interpret drawings
• Mould care, prep, upkeep and repair activities
• Inspect, clean and assemble moulds
• Laminate fiberglass components to a lamination schedule (flybridges, hardtops, and small parts)
• Pack pre-cut digital kitted composite fabrics into moulds
• Install vacuums and feed lines, and apply vacuum bags for the infusion process
• De-mould parts
• Perform in-line inspections to minimise quality issues, gel coat imperfections, and air voids.

SALARY $70,000 - $85,000 per annum + super (Depending on experience)
