Job summary

Purple House is seeking a Biomedical Engineer for full-time, permanent work across remote communities in Australia. You will schedule and perform routine repairs and maintenance of medical equipment and water systems, support clinical staff, and contribute to patient safety and service delivery.

Key responsibilities include diagnostic maintenance, testing, and providing training to staff on device operation. Willingness to travel and work in remote areas is essential.

About the Role

TheBiomedical Engineeris responsible forscheduling and performing routinerepair and maintenance activities of medical equipment and water systems.Inspect,install,and perform inventoryassessments andpreventative maintenance of medical equipment.This position is also responsible for assistingand supporting the clinical and administrative staff in the use of equipment across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities
  • Performstimelyroutine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities to dialysis equipment and water treatment systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment,devicesand systemsin accordance withrelevant standards.
  • Provide technicalassistanceand instructions to clinical teamsfor operation and maintenance.
  • Implement and support clinical education forgeneral medical device usage and maintenance.
  • Attend and successfully complete all technical training programs.
  • Manage andmaintainmedical device assets.
  • Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections and equipment repairs and failures.
  • Investigate and recommend improvements to enhance the delivery of dialysis treatment.
  • Work and thrivein some ofAustralia’smost remote communities, adaptingto theuniquechallenges and conditions of working in remote Australia;servicing communities to the best of our ability.
  • Respondin a timely mannerto technical queries and faults.
  • Able to effectively communicate between clinical and administrative staff as well as patients.

Highly Desirable

  • You have experience working for an Aboriginal organisation and awareness of the issuespertaining tothis region.
  • You have experience working in an industrial/dialysis/medical technical setting.
