Job summary

Treadwell Group is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to oversee the estimating department and align activities with company goals. You will drive KPI development, coach staff, and ensure accurate cost estimates for internally fabricated components.

You will collaborate with sales and engineering teams to refine proposals and support complex inquiries with robust estimates and timely RFQ responses. Strong leadership and scheduling skills are essential for multi-project delivery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Oversee and manage the estimating department to ensure priorities, work performance and progress is aligned with the department and Company strategic goals. Develop and drive team and individual KPIs for the estimating department, while leading and supporting the team to succeed.

Key responsibilities

Manage estimating staff performance including reviewing KPIs, holding performance reviews, coaching, developing skills and utilising Company performance management processes when required

Accurately prepare and complete detailed cost estimate reports, including determining the estimated manufacturing hours for each component fabricated internally

Develop, implement, maintain and drive company technical estimating standards and procedures, including relevant processes and systems, to meet information and reporting requirements

Review internal estimating methods and liaise with internal departments to seek feedback, identify areas of improvement, implement solutions, and increase efficiencies

Liaise with client-facing sales personnel to provide estimating input in support of proposals as well as qualify inquiries, gain a better understanding of the job scope, and obtain complete and accurate RFQ information so deadlines are met

Liaise with internal structural engineers and technical sales personnel to create and propose concept designs for complex inquiries that are ready for material takeoff preparation

Submit weekly performance reports for the estimating department to management

Liaise with other functions, including procurement, planning, and project management, in pursuit of effective scheduling and financial management.

About you

A minimum bachelor's degree in an industry-related field, such as engineering, business, mathematics, or construction management.

Exposure to creating concept designs and detailed cost estimates

Minimum of 2+ years of management experience

Technical knowledge of basic structural engineering, including

AS1657: Fixed Platforms, Walkways, Stairways and Ladders;

AS1428.1: Design for Access and Mobility Part 1: General requirements for access – new building work;

AS2156: Walking Tracks Infrastructure Design

Ability to efficiently use estimating software such as PlanSwift and Autodesk

Strong mathematical, analytical and critical thinking skills

Strong attention to detail and able to accurately read plans and drawings

Computer literate with good Microsoft Excel competency

Strong problem-solving and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and efficiently lead and motivate a team
