Job summary

NORTHSIX is driving a data and reporting upgrade, moving BI to Power BI. We seek a reports-focused BI professional to design, build and maintain dashboards, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver clear, actionable insights.

The role runs on-site in Melbourne’s West, Monday–Friday, with an initial 3–6 month contract and immediate interviews. You’ll join a fast-paced BI transformation initiative and contribute from day one.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Strong command of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Experience with paginated reports via Power BI Report Builder.
• Experience integrating with Microsoft Business Central.
• Advanced DAX and Power Query skills.
• Strong data modelling knowledge.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Translate business requirements into data visualisations.
• Develop paginated reports using Power BI Report Builder.
• Connect and integrate data from multiple sources, including SQL Server, Business Central, Azure Data Services, Excel and SharePoint.
• Develop and maintain Power Query transformations, and support ETL and data preparation activities.
• Gather reporting and analytics requirements directly from business stakeholders, including through workshops and requirement gathering sessions.
• Provide recommendations on reporting solutions and best practice, and deliver report demonstrations and user training.
• Implement Power BI security models, including row level security, and publish and manage reports within the Power BI Service.
• Monitor report performance, resolve issues and maintain documentation for reports, datasets and development standards.

Job description

NORTHSIX is partnering with an established business currently investing in its data and reporting capability, as it moves its business intelligence function onto Power BI. This is a temporary contract with a genuine view to extend, and interviews are commencing immediately. Candidates available to start immediately will be preferred.

The Role

Reporting to the Department Leader, you will design, build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that support business decision making, working closely with stakeholders across the business to turn complex data into clear, practical insight. This role suits someone with significant Power BI experience who can start quickly and work independently from day one, with limited ramp up time.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, including drill through, drill down, KPI and executive level reporting solutions
• Translate business requirements into clear, accurate data visualisations
• Develop paginated reports using Power BI Report Builder where required
• Connect and integrate data from multiple sources, including SQL Server, Business Central, Azure Data Services, Excel and SharePoint
• Develop and maintain Power Query transformations, and support ETL and data preparation activities
• Gather reporting and analytics requirements directly from business stakeholders, including through workshops and requirement gathering sessions
• Provide recommendations on reporting solutions and best practice, and deliver report demonstrations and user training
• Implement Power BI security models, including row level security, and publish and manage reports within the Power BI Service
• Monitor report performance, resolve issues and maintain documentation for reports, datasets and development standards

This role is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, based onsite in Melbourne's West. Please note: This role is not available as work from home.

About You

• Proven experience developing reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI, with strong command of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
• Experience with Power BI Report Builder and paginated reports
• Experience integrating with Microsoft Business Central
• Advanced DAX and Power Query skills, and strong SQL querying and database knowledge
• Solid understanding of data modelling concepts and best practice
• Able to analyse complex business requirements and deliver practical reporting solutions with minimal onboarding time
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, confident engaging directly with business users at all levels
• Available to start immediately and commit to the full length of the contract. Immediate availability will be highly regarded
