Job summary

Southern Shorthaul Railroad in Bendigo is seeking Entry Level Assistant Train Drivers or Qualified Assistant Train Drivers. Train operations are performed safely and efficiently, with on-the-job training and mentoring provided.

Candidates should have a passion for trains, be self-motivated and committed to a safety culture, with the ability to work a 24/7 roster and spend time away from home. Residence within 100km of the Bendigo Depot is preferred.

Qualifications

• Interest in Trains and the Rail Industry.
• Willing to spend time away from home.
• Able to work a 24/7 roster, including nights and weekends.
• Reside within 100 km of the Bendigo Depot.
• Hold a current Unrestricted Manual Drivers Licence.
• Hold a current Rail Safety Workers Medical.
• Hold a current National Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with freight haulage tasks following SSR procedures.
• Prepare and provision locomotives and wagons for operations.
• Perform minor fault repairs and in-field rectifications.
• Support rolling-stock maintainers to validate braking and safe operations.
• Maintain professional conduct with strong customer and safety focus.
