Job summary

ACCIONA in Australia seeks a Barge Master to oversee the safe, compliant operation of a non-self-propelled jack-up barge supporting major water infrastructure projects in Western Australia. You will implement the Safety Management System and coordinate marine interfaces with project teams and third parties to keep crew, equipment and emergency systems mission-ready.

Qualifications

• High-risk licences under WHS laws.
• 2–3 campaigns on jack-up barges as Assistant Barge Master or equivalent.
• Familiarity with vessel SMS (RAV-BEV-SMS-000) and Safe Operating Procedures.
• STCW Basic Safety Training (PSSR, PST, FPFF, GMDSS) and ECDIS endorsement (if fitted).
• Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Ability to obtain Fit for Work medical and National Crime Check.

Responsibilities

• Hold ultimate responsibility for crew and vessel safety.
• Implement and maintain the vessel's SMS and environmental policy.
• Approve risk assessments and enforce permit-to-work processes.
• Lead inductions, drills and crew competency checks.
• Command mooring, unmooring and safe port operations.
• Direct emergency response, musters and lifesaving equipment.
• Maintain SMS records and report to shore management.
