Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a wide range of beverages with accuracy and speed.
• Take orders and process payments using POS systems.
• Keep the bar area clean, organized and hygienic at all times.
• Monitor gaming machines and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service to patrons.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of the bar area during shifts.
• Adhere to responsible service of alcohol practices and identify intoxicated patrons.
• Support the wider team to ensure smooth operations during service periods.

Chevron Island Tavern is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Bar and Gaming Staff to join our dynamic hospitality team. This is a casual position based at our venue on Chevron Island, QLD 4217. You will be at the heart of our operations, delivering exceptional service to our guests whilst maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and customer care. This role is integral to creating memorable experiences for our patrons and maintaining the vibrant atmosphere our tavern is known for.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and serving a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with accuracy and efficiency
• Taking customer orders and processing payments using point-of-sale systems
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic bar area at all times
• Monitoring gaming machines and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies
• Providing friendly and professional customer service to all patrons
• Stocking and managing bar inventory, including glassware, bottles and supplies
• Assisting with the setup and breakdown of the bar area during shifts
• Adhering to responsible service of alcohol practices and identifying intoxicated patrons
• Supporting the wider team to ensure smooth operations throughout service periods

What we're looking for

• Current or willingness to obtain a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate and RSG
• Experience in bar service or hospitality roles, though enthusiasm and willingness to learn are equally valued
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits and beer varieties
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Sound understanding of point-of-sale systems and cash handling procedures
• A reliable and punctual approach to work with flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends
• Understanding of gaming machine regulations and compliance requirements
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift and carry items regularly
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety and hygiene
