Job summary

Hunter New England Local Health District's Cessnock Hospital is seeking an Emergency Nurse Practitioner or Transitional Nurse Practitioner to join the ED. You’ll work with two experienced Nurse Practitioners and GP Visiting Medical Officers, supported by a skilled team of nurses, radiographers and support staff.

You’ll have autonomy within a collaborative ED environment and opportunities for professional growth in a rural setting.

Qualifications

  • Current RN registration with AHPRA and eligible for NP endorsement.
  • Experience in emergency nursing or similar settings.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a supportive team.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and determine management.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic investigations within scope.
  • Develop evidence-based treatment plans for ED patients.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to staff.
  • Collaborate with GPVMOs and multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to efficient patient flow and ED operations.
  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred emergency care.
  • Support ongoing clinical learning and quality improvement.
