Job summary

CQUniversity Mackay is hiring a VET Teacher for Automotive Light, delivering Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology. The role blends workshop and classroom instruction, mentoring apprentices and sharing practical industry knowledge.

No prior teaching experience is required as the university provides a fully funded TAE40122 qualification and ongoing support while employed. Relocation assistance is available to relocate to the Mackay region.

Qualifications

• A minimum qualification in Automotive Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology is required.
• Dual-trade candidates with Auto Electrical or another complementary trade are highly regarded.
• Current hands-on industry experience in automotive maintenance, installation or fault finding is expected.
• Interest in mentoring apprentices and in teaching in both workshop and classroom settings is essential.
• No teaching experience required – training will be provided while employed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on training in Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
• Mentor and assess apprentices in workshop and classroom environments.
• Prepare lessons, assess student work and provide feedback.
• Contribute to maintaining a structured VET workload model and ensure student support.
