Job summary

Profectus is seeking an experienced Automation Tester to support test automation and delivery pipeline work within an Australian Government agency. You will build and maintain Playwright automated tests in TypeScript or JavaScript and run them through Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

The role covers test development, migration of existing automated tests, pipeline integration and test reporting. Hybrid work arrangements in Canberra with a focus on designing reusable test patterns, integrating tests

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining Playwright test suites using TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Experience designing reusable test patterns, fixtures and utilities.
• Experience integrating automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Azure DevOps Test Plans, test result publication and traceability.
• Experience writing and maintaining YAML pipeline configurations.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Playwright automated tests, reusable patterns and utilities using TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Review existing automated tests and migrate suitable tests to Playwright.
• Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps build, test and deployment pipelines.
• Publish test results and failure evidence from pipeline runs.
• Review and clean up pipeline configurations, including YAML templates, triggers and variables.
• Set up test tagging conventions and link automated tests to Azure DevOps Test Plans.
• Produce test coverage and release reporting to support deployment decisions.
• Identify automation and pipeline risks and recommend improvements to testing methods and tools.
• Carry out peer reviews and troubleshoot test and pipeline failures.
• Write technical documentation and run knowledge transfer sessions for APS staff and application teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Review existing automated tests and migrate suitable tests to Playwright
• Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps build, test and deployment pipelines
• Publish test results and failure evidence from pipeline runs
• Review and clean up pipeline configurations, including YAML templates, triggers and variables
• Set up test tagging conventions and link automated tests to Azure DevOps Test Plans

Required Experience

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining Playwright test suites using TypeScript or JavaScript
• Experience designing reusable test patterns, fixtures and utilities
• Experience integrating automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Azure DevOps Test Plans, test result publication and traceability
• Experience writing and maintaining YAML pipeline configurations
• Experience leading testing activities and giving specialist testing advice to delivery teams
• Experience documenting test approaches and handing over automation assets to other teams

Desirable Experience

• Experience writing acceptance criteria and automated coverage for functional and non-functional requirements
• API testing experience
• Experience with systems integration, build processes and source-control workflows such as Git
• Experience migrating automated tests from other tools to Playwright
• Experience setting up test governance, tagging and coverage reporting in a large enterprise or Australian Government environment
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certification

Security Clearance Requirements

• Must be an Australian Citizen
• Must have an AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance (or higher)
