Job summary

Chandler Macleod is recruiting an experienced APS6 Audit & Assurance Officer to support governance, risk, audit and business continuity within a Federal Government environment. You will coordinate internal audits, maintain governance frameworks and contribute to resilience initiatives.

You will work with senior stakeholders, governance committees and external providers to strengthen performance and compliance across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Experience in audit, assurance, risk management, governance or compliance within a complex organisation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Excellent written communication skills, including reports, briefings and executive-level documentation.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Experience supporting governance committees and working with senior leaders.
• Knowledge of business continuity frameworks and organisational resilience practices desirable.
• Experience within a Federal Government environment desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the delivery of internal audits, including planning, stakeholder engagement, audit monitoring and reporting.
• Maintain audit recommendation registers, track management actions and provide timely reporting to leadership and governance committees.
• Manage relationships with internal audit service providers and support assurance, compliance and risk management activities.
• Prepare high-quality reports, briefings and committee papers relating to audit, risk, assurance and business continuity.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance, risk and assurance frameworks, policies and processes.
• Support business continuity planning, testing activities and organisational resilience initiatives.
• Coordinate external reviews, risk workshops and assurance activities as required.

Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Audit & Assurance Officer to support governance, risk, audit and business continuity functions within a Federal Government environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a governance professional with strong audit, assurance and stakeholder engagement experience to contribute to organisational resilience and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Contract: 12-month contract with potential extension

About the Role

As the APS 6 Audit & Assurance Officer, you will play a key role in coordinating internal audit programs, supporting assurance and risk management activities, maintaining governance frameworks, and contributing to business continuity planning. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, governance committees, external providers and business areas to strengthen organisational performance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
