Job summary

Culture Amp in Melbourne is seeking an Associate Site Reliability Engineer to join our SRE team. This is a genuine start-of-career role with pairing, mentoring and time to learn how production systems behave.

You’ll work on tooling, platforms and patterns that product engineering teams build, with experienced engineers around you, in a flexible, inclusive environment that supports learning and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in software engineering or related STEM discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on coding experience; comfortable with TypeScript and Go; exposure to Ruby, Kotlin or Python.
• Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS or GCP).

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and enhance services following industry best practice.
• Collaborate with product teams to understand needs and measure impact of solutions.
• Keep infrastructure observable via dashboards, alerts and documentation.
• Contribute automation to reduce repetitive operational work.
• Collaborate with AI coding tools as part of daily workflow.
• Pair program with engineers to share understanding.

We’re looking for an Associate Site Reliability Engineer to join our SRE team in a full time position. Every year more employees use Culture Amp, and that means more simultaneous users, more data in our storage layer and more services to run. As an Associate SRE you’ll work on the tooling, platforms and patterns that product engineering teams build on top of, with experienced engineers around you. You will

• Work closely with other engineers to build, maintain and enhance our services, following industry best practice

• Work with product teams and other users of our SRE tooling to understand their needs and problems, then help develop, refine, slice, implement and measure the impact of the solution

• Help keep our infrastructure observable and understandable, through dashboards, alerts and documentation that make problems quicker to spot and fix

• Contribute automation that takes repetitive operational work off engineers’ plates

• Partner with AI coding agents as part of your day-to-day workflow, and help the team work out where they earn their keep

• Collaborate with other engineers in the team through pair programming to build a shared understanding of the work

You have

• A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in software engineering or a related STEM discipline, a completed coding bootcamp, or equivalent practical experience

• Some hands‑on experience writing code in any language. You’re likely to work with TypeScript and Go here, and our product teams also use Ruby, Kotlin and Python, so a willingness to read and debug unfamiliar languages matters more than what you’ve used so far

• Exposure to at least one cloud provider. We run mostly on AWS with a growing GCP footprint, and you’ll be supported to learn both

• Enough curiosity about how systems fail to dig into a problem rather than route around it

• A proactive and clear communicator. You value empathy and kindness, you can articulate your ideas and feelings in writing and out loud, and you’re open to the perspectives others bring

• Self‑motivated. You work independently, take the initiative to get what you need, and call for support when required

• Someone with a growth mindset who’s willing to embrace challenges. You’ll learn a lot in this role

• Excited about the potential of AI to help engineers innovate, and open to leveraging AI coding tools such as Claude Code

For this role, the estimated base salary is listed below (AUD):

• $90,000 + super
