Job summary

CSL Behring in Melbourne is seeking a dedicated scientist to conduct assay development, validation, and sample analysis, supporting project progression from concept to clinical development.

The role requires a bachelor’s or higher in Immunology or Biochemistry, at least 3 years of laboratory experience, strong problem-solving and data-analysis skills, and clear communication with stakeholders, including adherence to GLP/ISO 17025 and collaboration with CSL R&D and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Immunology, Biochemistry or related discipline, or relevant equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ laboratory experience in cellular biology or analytical sciences.
• Expertise in designing, generating and optimizing laboratory assays for molecular therapeutics.
• Strong technical skills across ligand-binding platforms, analysis software, ELN and AI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to work independently in a matrix team environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Scientist/Team Lead, your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct assay development, validation and sample analysis.
• Troubleshoot assays and inform on next steps during the assay development phase
• Analyse experimental data using established workflows and prepare relevant SOPs.
• Support the progression of projects from concept through to clinical development.
• Apply best practice in experimental design, data analysis and laboratory compliance, including OECD GLP and ISO 17025 requirements.
• Communicate scientific results clearly and effectively to a range of stakeholders.
• Support internal and external research activities, including wet-lab due diligence activities.
• Evaluate emerging scientific trends and technologies and support the integration of novel approaches.
• Collaborate with cross-functional CSL R&D teams, academic institutions, industry experts and external collaborators to support project progression and effective risk management.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Immunology, Biochemistry or a related discipline, or relevant equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ laboratory experience with training in a relevant technical discipline such as cellular biology or analytical sciences.
• Expertise in the design, generation and optimisation of laboratory assays for the analysis of molecular therapeutics.
• Strong technical skills cross ligand-binding platforms, analysis softwares, ELN and AI
• Strong scientific problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Excellent record keeping and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
• The ability to work independently with general supervision while collaborating effectively within a matrix and team environment.
