  • Salary: 168,152 to 185,264 AUD per year (including 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

  • Remuneration: AUD$198,994 to AUD$219,245 (LEVD) or AUD$256,348 pa (LEVE); inclusive of the salary figures above

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an Associate Professor/Professor in Interior Design to join the School of Architecture and Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering.

The Associate Professor/Professor leads the delivery of the school’s flagship courses, including curriculum development and renewal of postgraduate programs in the Interior Design discipline. They will foster innovative teaching collaborations and inspire students to engage with design challenges from both theoretical and community‑centric perspectives.

Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record of excellence in research, quality teaching, academic leadership, and an extensive collaborative network. International recognition for outstanding research contributions and a reputation as a thought leader are essential. The successful candidate will also mentor early‑career staff and lead dynamic research environments.

Qualifications
  • Completion of a doctoral qualification or equivalent experience in Interior Design, with evidence of real‑world impact valued.
  • Outstanding research leadership in interior design or the built environment, including internationally recognized track record of external grants and impactful outputs.
  • High‑quality teaching record in architectural disciplines (interior, architecture, landscape) with innovative approaches.
  • Strategic, adaptive, future‑focused mindset to position QUT at the forefront of interior design education and research.
  • Excellent student satisfaction record in higher education teaching.
  • Proven staff management skills, motivating and leading colleagues collaboratively and effectively.
  • Track record of engagement and collaborations with industry, government, and community.
