Healthscope is seeking an experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to lead the Perioperative Services team at John Fawkner Private Hospital in Melbourne. The role combines operational oversight with hands-on clinical leadership to drive safe, high‑quality surgical care.

You’ll coordinate theatre activities, supervise nursing staff, and mentor team members while advancing NSQHS standards and accreditation activities.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
• Recent experience within Perioperative Services
• Demonstrated experience in Scrub/Scout
• Strong clinical knowledge and patient assessment skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and service excellence
• Ability to mentor, develop and support team members
• Minimum 5 years of scrub/ Scout nursing experience
• Well-developed leadership and interpersonal skills
• Coordination of clinical activities and prioritization
• Understanding of NSQHS Standards and perioperative practice
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience
• Postgraduate perioperative qualification
• Experience in accreditation activities
• Workforce planning and rostering knowledge

About the Role

As an ANUM, you will provide operational and clinical leadership across the perioperative environment, supporting teams in delivering safe, high-quality care to patients undergoing surgery.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the daily coordination of operating theatre activities and workflows

Providing clinical leadership and supervision to nursing staff

• Acting as a role model for evidence-based practice and patient-centred care
• Supporting staffing, resource allocation and operational efficiency
• Assisting with performance development, coaching and staff engagement
• Contributing to quality improvement, accreditation and patient safety initiatives
• Promoting effective communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
• Supporting a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement

What You’ll Bring

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

• Understanding of NSQHS Standards and contemporary perioperative practice
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
• Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role
• Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing or related specialty
• Experience participating in accreditation activities
• Knowledge of workforce planning, rostering and clinical governance processes
