At Jacobs, we’re challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world’s most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission‑critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting‑edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

At Jacobs, we’re helping clients deliver some of the region’s most complex and critical facilities through innovative engineering and integrated design solutions. As our Buildings and Places business continues to grow across Australia, New Zealand and the wider region, we’re seeking an experienced Associate Fire Protection Engineer to join our ANZ team.

This is a strategic opportunity for a senior fire protection engineering professional to play a key role in the delivery of major Data Centre and mission‑critical facilities projects across the ANZ region. Working closely with clients, project stakeholders and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you’ll provide technical leadership on complex projects while supporting the continued growth of Jacobs’ Fire Protection capability and Data Centre portfolio.

Suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys combining technical excellence with client engagement, project leadership and business development, this role offers the opportunity to act as a trusted advisor to clients, lead large and geographically diverse project teams, and contribute to some of the most technically demanding building projects currently underway in the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of fire protection engineering design and consultancy services across complex building, Data Centre and mission‑critical facilities projects
  • Act as the Fire Protection Lead on major projects, providing technical leadership and oversight throughout the project lifecycle
  • Undertake independent design, review and assurance activities, ensuring high‑quality technical outcomes are achieved
  • Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary project teams, including collaboration with Jacobs' Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teams across the region
  • Interface directly with clients, contractors, authorities and project stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor throughout project delivery
  • Provide local engineering leadership and support statutory approvals, compliance requirements and project sign‑off activities where required
  • Manage project delivery outcomes, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality
  • Collaborate closely with client account teams to identify emerging opportunities and strengthen strategic client relationships
  • Represent Jacobs at client meetings, industry forums and technical events, helping enhance our market profile and reputation
  • Maintain compliance with Jacobs' quality assurance processes and project delivery standards

Here’s what you’ll need

  • Degree qualification in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Significant experience delivering fire protection engineering solutions within a consulting environment
  • Strong technical capability across fire protection systems design, fire engineering principles and project delivery
  • Experience delivering complex building projects, ideally within Data Centres, mission‑critical facilities, commercial developments, healthcare, defence or other technically demanding environments
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading design, review and assurance activities on major projects
  • Strong understanding of relevant Australian standards, codes and regulatory requirements relating to fire protection engineering
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships and engage effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing project delivery outcomes, budgets and schedules
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
  • A collaborative mindset, strong problem‑solving abilities and a passion for delivering innovative client‑focused solutions

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team supporting a significant pipeline of Data Centre and mission‑critical projects across Australia and the broader region. You’ll play an important role in shaping technical outcomes, strengthening client relationships and supporting the continued expansion of Jacobs’ Fire Protection and Buildings business.
