Job summary

ADG Engineers in Sydney is seeking an ambitious Associate Civil Engineer to help grow our Civil Engineering division. This key role will plan, manage and deliver complex engineering projects, lead a team of engineers and designers, and provide technical guidance.

You will work closely with project managers and architects, apply sound design, cost and risk thinking, and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Chartered member (CPEng) of Engineers Australia is desired.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated design experience.
  • Ability to think and solve problems and to critically assess and review designs by others.
  • Experience in production of detailed engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and their impact on design.
  • Understanding of design and commercial risk with good contract management experience.
  • Experience liaising with project managers and architects.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to maintain relationships at different levels within client organisations.
  • Business development skills.

About The Role

We are seeking an ambitious and dynamic Associate Civil Engineer to assist in the growth and development of our Civil Engineering division in Sydney. This key engineering role will be responsible for planning, managing and successfully delivering engineering projects of a complex nature.

Responsibilities

Some of your key accountabilities in this role will include the following:

  • Carrying out and managing detailed designs for all types of projects and all aspects of projects ensuring that designs are innovative, prepared to a high standard and in accordance with the needs and expectations of our clients.
  • Managing and resolving project issues, and consider construction costings and practices in the design process
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of engineers and designers within the civil discipline. You will also provide technical guidance, feedback and support to the team members, and conduct performance reviews, training needs analysis and career development plans for them.
  • Gain an understanding of the business and strategic direction of ADG, and develop, grow and maintain strong customer relationships. You will also identify, communicate and pursue new opportunities for the Civil Engineering division in Perth, and build your business development skills.
