Bentley Recruitment is seeking an experienced Manager or Associate Director to join a growing public practice accounting firm in Brisbane. You will oversee a portfolio of established clients, provide leadership to the team and contribute to the firm’s succession planning.

With a partner retirement on the horizon, this role offers a clear succession path, the chance to lead client relationships, and guide the firm's future direction and service delivery.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification required.
• Experience in public practice accounting.
• Experience at Manager, Senior Manager or Associate Director level.
• Ability to lead, mentor and develop a team.

Responsibilities

Public Practice Accounting | $150,000 – $170,000 Package | Succession Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Manager or Associate Director to join an established and growing public practice accounting firm.

With one of the firm's long-standing Partners planning to retire in the coming months, this role offers a genuine succession opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career, develop into a senior leadership position and play an important role in the future direction of the practice.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the existing leadership team, you will oversee a portfolio of established clients, provide technical guidance and leadership to the team, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice. A key part of the position will involve gradually transitioning into the management of a substantial portfolio of long-standing client relationships, ensuring continuity of service while building your own relationships and influence within the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee a portfolio of established business clients.
• Review financial statements, tax returns and compliance work prepared by the team.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and leadership to accountants.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
• Assist with workflow management, staff development and team performance.
• Identify opportunities to grow client relationships and develop the practice.
• Work closely with the Partners on succession planning and the future direction of the firm.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

• CA or CPA qualification.
• Strong experience within a public practice accounting environment.
• Previous experience at Manager, Senior Manager or Associate Director level.
• Strong technical knowledge across business services and taxation.
• The ability to lead, mentor and develop a team.
• Confidence managing client relationships and providing commercial advice.
• An interest in taking on greater responsibility and progressing into a senior leadership role.
