Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Associate Cable Engineer to join our Energy & Power team in Australia. This role focuses on planning, design, and delivery of Extra High Voltage cable systems across Australia and the Asia Pacific region, with opportunities to work on major infrastructure projects.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to design criteria and documentation, and support proposals and client meetings.

Qualifications

  • Experience with EHV cable transmission networks.
  • Understanding of AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE standards.
  • Experience in developing business cases and development reports.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed team.
  • Willingness to pursue professional accreditation (e.g. CPEng).

Responsibilities

  • Support design and delivery of Extra High Voltage (EHV) cable projects (underground and/or submarine).
  • Contribute to development of design criteria, technical outputs, and documentation.
  • Assist with technical reviews, quality assurance, and standards compliance (AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE).
  • Work with civil, structural, environmental, and SCADA teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Attend client meetings and support coordination with contractors, OEMs, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to proposals, bids, and reports to support project delivery and growth.
  • Build technical capability through diverse projects and mentorship from senior engineers.

Your impact

Jacobs is seeking an Associate Cable Engineer to join our growing Energy & Power team in Australia. This is an opportunity for a motivated cable engineering professional to work on major power infrastructure projects while building technical capability and contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team.

As part of our Transmission & Distribution business, you will support the planning, design, and delivery of high-voltage cable systems across Australia and the broader Asia Pacific region.

With a robust pipeline of projects, this opportunity offers exposure to complex multidisciplinary work and clear pathways for career growth within a global consultancy.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Support the design and delivery of Extra High Voltage (EVH) cable projects (underground and/or submarine) across all project phases.
  • Contribute to development of design criteria, technical outputs, and documentation.
  • Assist with technical reviews, quality assurance, and compliance with standards (AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE).
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, environmental, SCADA) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Attend client meetings and support coordination with contractors, OEMs, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to proposals, bids, and reports, supporting project delivery and business growth.
  • Build technical capability through involvement in diverse projects and mentorship from senior engineers.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Experience in EHV cable transmission networks.
  • Understanding of relevant standards (AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE).
  • Experience in the development of business cases and development reports
  • Effective communication and problem solving ability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi disciplinary and geographically dispersed team environment.
  • Have attained or willingness to work toward professional accreditation (e.g. CPEng)
