Job summary

Lanson Partners in Melbourne is seeking an Associate – Accounting Advisory to join a high-performing Hedge Accounting team. You will advise clients on hedge accounting strategies, perform testing and support accounting documentation, reporting and disclosures.

The role offers exposure to IFRS 9, engagement with senior finance stakeholders, and opportunities to develop specialist advisory expertise at the intersection of accounting and financial markets across the APAC region.

Qualifications

• Around 5 years' accounting experience.
• Background in financial reporting, audit or technical accounting advisory.
• Strong communication and client management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a high-performing environment.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on hedge accounting strategies and complex transactions.
• Perform hedge effectiveness testing and prepare accounting documentation.
• Support journal entries, financial reporting and disclosures.
• Provide technical accounting advice across IFRS 9 and hedging.
• Conduct technical accounting research, particularly around IFRS 9.
• Work closely with clients, auditors and internal specialists.
• Contribute to month-end and quarter-end reporting processes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate – Accounting Advisory to join a high-performing Hedge Accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to develop specialist expertise while working with senior finance and treasury stakeholders across a diverse client portfolio.

The role:

• Advise clients on hedge accounting strategies and complex transactions
• Perform hedge effectiveness testing and prepare accounting documentation
• Support journal entries, financial reporting and disclosures
• Provide technical accounting advice across interest rate, FX and commodity hedging
• Conduct technical accounting research, particularly around IFRS 9
• Work closely with clients, auditors and internal specialists
• Contribute to month-end and quarter-end reporting processes
• Develop strong expertise in one of the most complex and evolving areas of accounting

You will ideally have:

• Around 5 years' accounting experience, with up to 3 years post-qualified
• Background in financial reporting, audit or technical accounting advisory
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 9
• Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and client management skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a high-performing environment
