Job summary

ASC Pty Ltd in Osborne, SA is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of high‑impact submarine programs. You will collaborate with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain and Finance to ensure timely, compliant project outcomes.

The role requires a technical or PM degree and at least five years in complex projects, with strong skills in scheduling, EV, and leadership. A background in Navy or defence projects is advantageous; on‑site unions with a flexible work approach are

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in a technical or project management discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a complex project environment at a Project Engineer level or equivalent.
  • Advanced skillset in Microsoft Office; Power BI experience is advantageous.
  • Demonstrates scheduling, earned value management, financial, stakeholder and personnel management in a complex project environment.

  • Prepare, coordinate, and deliver project reports, governance updates, and performance reviews on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Lead project governance activities, monitor adherence to processes and controls, and conduct quality assurance checks across project documentation and reporting.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement in submarine capability delivery.
  • Drive capability development by mentoring team members and sharing best practices.
  • Support development and implementation of standardised project management processes, tools, and reporting frameworks.

About the Opportunity

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of projects across all phases of the project lifecycle, on the SSN AUKUS Build Program at Osbourne, SA. This is a dynamic opportunity to contribute to complex, high‑impact projects while developing your leadership and project management skills in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project performance baselines, track progress, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Liaise daily with cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and deliver project reports, governance updates, and performance reviews on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with reporting standards.
  • Lead project governance activities, monitor adherence to processes and controls, and conduct quality assurance checks to ensure consistency across project documentation, reporting, and delivery practices.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement in submarine capability delivery.
  • Drive capability development initiatives by mentoring team members, sharing best practices, and fostering a high‑performance project management culture.
  • Support the development and implementation of standardised project management processes, tools, and reporting frameworks to improve organisational capability and project outcomes.
About you
  • Tertiary qualifications in a technical or project management discipline or equivalent experience in systems engineering, naval construction or complex asset management / development environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a complex project environment at a Project Engineer level (or equivalent).
  • Advanced skillset in Microsoft Office Suites, experience using Power BI will be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable practical knowledge of Scheduling, Earned Value Management, financial, stakeholder and personnel management as applicable to a complex project environment.
  • Autonomous, goal directed and capable of planning, organising and managing multiple priorities with limited direction.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities, sound judgment, and a resilient, team‑oriented mindset.
  • Builds effective relationships across the organisation and delivers exceptional customer service.
Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
