Holroyd School is a School for Specific Purpose (SSP) located in Merrylands, NSW. The student cohort includes 200 students from Kindergarten through Year 12, all of whom present at school with unique personalities, strengths, and complex, diverse and dynamic needs, the functional impact of a moderate or severe intellectual disability, co-occurring disabilities and health conditions. The school's program focus on student empowerment, the essential skills for learning, wellbeing and independence, learning is supported by explicit teaching practices, and diverse experiences and opportunities for students as they learn and grow. Effective consultation with students, families and, student support networks, strengthen personalised learning and support provision for students at school. The school community works and learns together to continuously improve on a journey toward equity and excellence, so every student succeeds and excels in their personal journey of independence, wellbeing and learning. The Assistant Principal (AP) position is a multifaceted teaching and leading role that directly impacts the school's culture and student outcomes. The role is a primary driver of the school's daily operations, student and staff support and the school's equity and excellence journey.
In addition to the general selection criteria: Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with additional learning support needs, along with demonstrated capacity to meet the responsibilities of a dual teacher-leader role. Demonstrated ability to lead the delivery of teaching and learning programs to ensure all students are supported to learn and participate fully in all aspects of school. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with the school's key stakeholders to support student's complex educational needs. Demonstrated capacity to strengthen the school's capacity to achieve improved outcomes for students.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
