South West Rocks Public School is situated on the lands of the Dunghutti people, in a popular holiday area of the NSW Mid-North Coast. Our current enrolment is 334 students, of which 22% identify as Aboriginal.

The school aims to achieve academic excellence in a caring, co-operative and courteous environment. We provide quality teaching and learning opportunities that ensure equitable access for all students. While the teaching of literacy and numeracy are priorities, we provide many opportunities for children to excel in all key learning areas. As a member of the Macleay Public Schools network, we strongly promote the virtues of the public education system in NSW.

At South West Rocks Public School, we continue to work closely with community groups and educational partners to provide students and parents with outstanding transition programs from pre-school to Kindergarten and Year 6 to high school. We are proud of the positive student welfare programs we provide, such as QuEST (Quality Environment for Students and Teachers), Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and The Berry Street Educational Model. These programs build self-esteem, resilience and leadership skills for life-long learning. Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary

Experience in leading collaborative professional learning and mentoring staff, particularly in explicit teaching, to promote ongoing professional growth and excellence.

Commitment to student wellbeing and a demonstrated ability to implement effective programs and practices that support the social, emotional, and academic development of students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
