Assistant Principal - John Warby Public School

John Warby Public School is located in Airds, in the Campbelltown area of South Western Sydney, on Dharawal Country. The school provides education across Preschool to Year 6, including a 4 class Inclusive Education unit with a current whole school enrolment of 269 students.. Our diverse and evolving community includes 24% of students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, alongside families from a range of cultural and language backgrounds. This diversity is recognised as a strength of our school and contributes to a strong sense of identity, belonging and community.

General Selection Criteria

• 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
• 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
• 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
• 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
• 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
• 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary:

• 1. Demonstrated capacity to lead evidence-informed and differentiated teaching practices in literacy and numeracy, using student achievement data and high-impact professional learning to build collective teacher efficacy and improve outcomes for all students.
• 2. Demonstrated ability to lead inclusive approaches to student engagement, behaviour and wellbeing that respond effectively to diverse learning, social and emotional needs and strengthen students' sense of belonging, agency and success at school.
• 3. Demonstrated ability to provide visible, agile and collaborative leadership that develops high-performing teams, fosters a positive and culturally responsive school culture, and builds authentic partnerships with students, staff, families, Aboriginal communities and a diverse school community.
• 4. Demonstrated emotional intelligence and highly developed interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build trust, navigate complex and challenging situations with empathy, self-awareness and sound judgement, and positively influence individuals and teams to strengthen a respectful and collaborative school culture.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
