Job summary

ALH Hotels' Sylvania Hotel in Melbourne is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead the team, connect with locals, and keep the pub buzzing and welcoming.

In this hands-on role, you will support the Publican, mentor staff across bar, bistro, and gaming rooms, and ensure safe, smooth daily operations. A valid RSA, RCG and Gaming Licence are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on role with manual handling and lifting of stock, kegs, and deliveries.
• Ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.
• Experience supervising in bar, bistro, or gaming room preferred.

Responsibilities

• Get to know locals and be part of the crew.
• Support the Publican to run the pub safely and with a great vibe.
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team.
• Anticipate issues and resolve hiccups before they escalate.

We’re on the hunt for our next Assistant Manager to help keep the Sylvania Hotelbuzzing and loved by the locals.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you’re part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You’ve been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You’ve learned from great managers and now you’re ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You’ve got a current RSA,RCG & Gaming Licence as per state requirements
