We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

Come and be part of our specialist Credit Portfolio Analytics & Insights – Consumer Credit Assurance (CCA) team within Group Risk. As we continue to mature our Line 2 risk oversight capabilities, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that provides critical assurance and independent oversight across the bank's consumer credit environment.

If you have a strong background in consumer credit or lending, an inquisitive mindset, and a passion for making a difference by protecting our customers and the bank, this role is for you.

In the Consumer Credit Assurance team, you’ll make an impact by:

  • Strengthening our credit risk processes through involvement in conducting thematic reviews and verifying the effectiveness of credit controls across the consumer credit lifecycle.
  • Providing independent second-line challenge to verify compliance with the Group Credit Risk Management Framework, Consumer Credit Policies, and regulatory obligations.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance credit processes and controls, to support better customer outcomes and strengthen the bank’s credit practices.
About the role

The Assistant Manager Consumer Credit Assurance role operates in a dynamic, project-driven rhythm to support the Senior Manager and Consumer Credit Assurance Managers in planning and undertaking assurance reviews.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Thematic Reviews & Fieldwork: Assist with planning, scoping, and executing thematic assurance reviews, gathering information and performing detailed file reviews across consumer products (residential mortgages, personal loans, and credit cards).
  • Review Reporting & Insights: Assist in drafting review summary reports, discussion papers, and management information that clearly communicate findings and recommended business actions.
  • Action Tracking & Governance: Administer and monitor post-review actions, remediation plans, and operational risk events.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of credit assurance activities and the bank’s credit compliance frameworks, processes and controls.
What you’ll bring to the role

Essential:

  • Consumer Credit & Lending Expertise: Solid experience in consumer lending (residential mortgages, personal loans, credit cards) – higher-level Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) preferable.
  • Analytical & Inquisitive Mindset: Strong attention to detail with the ability to derive insights from data, procedures, and systems, by asking relevant questions and challenging assumptions.
  • Methodical & Structured Approach: Self-driven and organised approach with ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet agreed timeframes.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Works well autonomously or with others; having excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarise and present information clearly.
  • Regulatory Awareness: familiarity with key consumer credit regulations, codes, and guidelines (e.g., NCCP Act, Banking Code of Practice, ASIC/APRA).

Highly desirable:

  • Prior experience in risk, compliance, internal audit, or credit assurance capacity within financial services.
  • Practical understanding of credit origination systems and core banking platforms.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
