Job summary

You will work with nationally and internationally recognised experts to navigate financial aspects of disputes and provide impartial, practical solutions for clients.

You will build client relationships, contribute to independent expert reports and financial models, and help grow the advisory practice with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in commerce, finance, business, economics or law.
  • Professional qualification such as Chartered Accountant or CFA preferred or in progress.
  • Experience in forensic accounting, corporate finance, insolvency, audit or tax.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver forensic and advisory assignments, including dispute advisory and valuations.
  • Prepare independent expert reports and financial models for dispute resolution.
  • Quantify economic loss, damages and other remedies in commercial disputes.
  • Review work of other experts; perform company and financial analyses.
  • Support business development and ongoing client relationship work.

The Opportunity

Working with nationally and internationally recognised forensic accounting experts, you will help courts, clients and their legal advisers navigate the financial aspects of commercial disputes, providing impartial advice and practical solutions to achieve the best possible outcomes.

You will be involved in building client relationships and pursuing opportunities, delivering clear and technically sound solutions on an interesting array of assignments, and driving continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of deliverables and client service. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver a range of forensic and advisory assignments, with an emphasis on dispute advisory and business valuation services.
  • Contribute to the preparation of independent expert reports and supporting financial models for dispute resolution purposes.
  • Quantify economic loss, damages and other remedies in the context of commercial disputes.
  • Perform valuations of businesses, shares and other equity, intellectual property and other intangible assets.
  • Review and critique the work of other expert accountants and valuers in legal proceedings.
  • Undertake company, industry and other financial analysis.
  • Maintain compliance with professional and risk management processes.
  • Participate in business development, including relationship development and opportunity research.
About You
  • A relevant undergraduate degree (e.g. commerce, finance, business, economics, law). Ideally hold or be working towards a relevant professional qualification (Chartered Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst) or have an interest in obtaining one.
  • Relevant professional experience, which may include forensic accounting, corporate finance, insolvency, audit, tax or other advisory services (dispute advisory and valuations experience will be highly regarded).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, ideally with experience in building financial models including discounted cash flow analyses (familiarity with S&P Capital IQ will also be highly regarded).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation, problem-solving and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen.
