Job summary

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) invites applications for a Permanent Full Time/Part Time Assistant in Nursing at St George Hospital. The position supports nursing teams in acute care across Aged Care, Women’s and Children’s, Surgery, Medicine and Cancer services.

You will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, maintain medical records and contribute to a safe, compassionate care environment in line with NSW Health CORE values.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Descriptor: Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care) or equivalent.
• Good written and verbal communications skills.
• Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Effective problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated previous Assistant in Nursing experience within an acute care facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care activities to patients in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Assist the Registered and Enrolled Nurses with patient care interventions as directed.
• Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required.
• Communicate effectively with patients and other health care team members in accordance with appropriate protocol.
