Job summary

Green Point Christian College is seeking an experienced Christian educator to lead the day-to-day pastoral care, wellbeing and behaviour of students across Years 7 to 12. The role sits within the Secondary Leadership Team and involves coaching Year Advisors and coordinating wellbeing programs.

Reporting to the Head of Secondary, the Assistant Head will guide behaviour management, support the Equip and student leadership initiatives, and act as the primary escalation point for welfare matters

Qualifications

• Mature Christian faith and active church involvement.
• Current NESA accreditation at Proficient Teacher or above.
• Experience in pastoral leadership or year-level leadership, with coaching of other teachers.
• Knowledge of child protection and mandatory reporting.
• Ability to use wellbeing, behaviour and attendance data to guide interventions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day pastoral care, wellbeing and behaviour of students across Years 7–12.
• Supervise and develop the Year Advisor team and coordinate wellbeing programs.
• Act as first point of escalation for student welfare and discipline matters.

Job description

Green Point Christian College is seeking an experienced Christian educator to lead the day-to-day pastoral care, wellbeing and behaviour of students across Years 7 to 12.

Green Point Christian College is a Christian, independent, co-educational school serving approximately 1,150 students on the Central Coast of New South Wales. The opportunity

This newly defined position sits at the heart of Secondary student life. Reporting to the Head of Secondary, the Assistant Head will supervise and develop the Year Advisor team, lead the College’s behaviour management processes in the Secondary School, coordinate the delivery of the Equip and student leadership programs, and act as the first point of escalation for student welfare and discipline matters.

The role exists so that Year Advisors are well supported and students are known, cared for and responded to promptly. As a member of the Secondary Leadership Team and Core Wellbeing Team, the Assistant Head will work closely with the Directors of Formation, Enrichment and Learning and Teaching, as well as counselling and learning support staff. By providing clear leadership for student matters, the role also enables the Head of Secondary to focus more closely on curriculum quality, staffing and the leadership of Heads of Department.

They will coach Year Advisors, build consistent pastoral practice across six year groups, use wellbeing, behaviour and attendance data to guide early intervention, and partner with staff and families with both care and clarity. Restorative practice, grounded in responsibility, forgiveness and reconciliation, will be central to the work.

What you will bring

• A mature and active Christian faith, involvement in a local church, and the ability to affirm and live by the College’s Statement of Faith.
• Current NESA accreditation at Proficient Teacher or above, with a track record of effective classroom practice.
• Experience in pastoral leadership, student wellbeing or year-level leadership, including coaching and developing other teachers.
• Capability in student behaviour management, restorative practice and behaviour support planning, with current knowledge of child protection and mandatory reporting.
• Sound judgement and the ability to manage complex situations and difficult conversations with students and families with care and clarity.
• The ability to use wellbeing, behaviour and attendance data, establish consistent practice across year groups, and collaborate across College teams.
