Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a finance, AP or accounting role as an Assistant Accountant or similar.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and competence with a large accounting application.
• Desire to commence or progress to CA / CPA qualification.

Responsibilities

• Perform key accounting tasks supporting QLD communities including balance sheet reconciliation.
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end processes, accruals, and prepayments.
• Support external audit processes and prepare statutory annual financial reports.

Location: Aveo Brisbane Newstead Office | 5 Days on-site

Reports To: Finance Business Partner - Communities

The Opportunity

Join Aveo’s Community Finance team as an Assistant Accountant and help shape the financial success of Aveo’s QLD retirement communities. In this role, you’ll support the Community Finance team by completing reconciliations and providing accounting support to the wider team. This is a great opportunity for an Accountant early in their career looking for career growth in a stable industry.

Your Impact

• Perform a volume of key accounting tasks that support our QLD communities, such as balance sheet reconciliation and bulk journal postings.
• Regular ledger maintenance and reconciliation to support the preparation of monthly and / or quarterly financial reports.
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end processes, including preparation of accruals and prepayments.
• Assist with external audit processes and the preparation of statutory annual financial reports (SPFR).
• Assist our team of Management Accountants with ad hoc tasks and provide support where necessary.
• Support with coding of Accounts Payable invoices and other payment requests.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and documentation.
• Build strong connections with the Community Finance team and wider Operations team.

What you'll bring

• 1+ years of experience in a finance, AP or accounting role (e.g. as an Assistant Accountant or similar)
• Qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Finance, with a desire to commence or progress to CA / CPA qualification
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and competence with a large accounting application (e.g TechnologyOne or similar)
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn and connect with the team.
• Ability to deliver and process a high volume of financial data.
• Two COVID-19 Vaccinations (required)
