Job summary

Marriott International in Melbourne Docklands is seeking a Cluster Assistant Accountant to support the DOF/ADOF with monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting within our finance team across Melbourne properties.

This role focuses on balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records in a fast-paced hospitality environment, ensuring timely close and compliance with company policy.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

• Follow-up and resolve past due accounts and vendor invoices.
• Assist in other general accounting functions as needed by Finance.
• Organise, secure, and maintain all files, records, and cash.

The Cluster Assistant Accountant reports to the ADOF and supports the finance team on the day to day execution of general ledger processes including account balancing, ledger reconciliation, reporting and discrepancy resolution and end of month processes.

This is a Cluster Role supporting Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands and AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank.

POSITION SUMMARY

• Support the DOF and ADOF with monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, feeling empowered to make an impact
• Complete month end Journal entries and accrual process
• Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute statistical, financial, accounting, auditing and payroll reports and tables
• Prepare, review, reconcile and issue bills, invoices and account statements according to company procedures
• Follow-up and resolve past due accounts and vendor invoices until payment in full is received or resolved, demonstrating a belief that every challenge requires a unique solution
• Assist in other general accounting functions as needed or required by the Finance team
• Organise, secure, and maintain all files, records, cash and cash equivalents in accordance with policies and procedures

• Finance or accounting qualifications or currently working towards completion.
• Prior experience in a finance role such as AR, AP or finance officer
