Job summary

Talentpath is assisting a not-for-profit organisation in Brisbane to recruit an Assistant Financial Accountant. You will support financial statement preparation, month-end processes and statutory reporting while applying contemporary accounting standards.

The role offers broad exposure to reconciliations, journal processing, data mapping and reporting, plus opportunities to contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in accounting/finance or related discipline.
• Experience in a large/complex organisation.
• Strong reconciliation skills in high-volume environments.
• Exposure to ERP systems (Dynamics, SAP) and data mapping.
• Proficient in Excel with ability to analyse financial data.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform balance sheet and other financial reconciliations in line with schedules.
• Process journals and assist with month-end accounting activities.
• Support financial statement preparation and statutory reporting requirements.
• Investigate variances and assist with problem-solving activities.
• Assist with financial data mapping and integration across systems.
• Support compliance reporting, auditing and financial administration.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and collaborate with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support compliance reporting, auditing, and financial administration activities

• Contribute to process improvement initiatives across the finance function

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial support

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline

• Previous accounting experience within a large and complex organisation

• Strong reconciliation skills within a high-volume transactional environment

• Experience working with multiple cost centres and financial data sets

• Exposure to ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar

• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines with a high level
